Fantastic French Toast

Ingredients:
• 1 loaf of sliced bread
(try country-style or Tx Toast - 1-inch thick)
• 4 large eggs
• Butter or nonstick cooking spray
• Optional: a sprinkle of cinnamon and/or nutmeg
Try more than 1 "Sweet" add 3:
• 1 1/2 cups eggnog (store-bought or homemade)
• 2 tablespoons dark rum (optional, can omit or use 2 teaspoons rum extract)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• Whipped cream, powdered sugar or maple syrup for topping and serving
Preparation:
Warm the oven: Place a cookie sheet or large serving plate into the oven (optional to a metal wire cooling rack onto it) and turn the oven to warm or 250°F. (You can also put a serving plate in the microwave to keep them warm.)
Whisking the eggs: In a medium-large bowl combine eggs, eggnog, rum, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg. Whisk until uniform in color. Dunk sliced bread into the batter, flipping over to make sure both sides are covered.
Frying the toast: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter or spray a large skillet or griddle on medium heat. Once the butter has melted, place egg dipped bread from the bowl to the hot skillet or griddle. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until the bread is golden brown. Flip with a spatula and continue to cook for an additional 2 or 3 minutes until that side is equally brown.
Keeping them warm: Move the finished toast to a cookie sheet or plate in the oven (or microwave.)
